The Golden Girls do Sight and Sound Theater

I’m here to show you how how the Golden Girls Do Sight and Sound Theater, but first… If you’ve followed me for any length of time, then you are probably aware of my love for TRAVEL! It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a day away in a neighboring town, a week of family vacation, an overseas adventure, or a weekend with the girls! I’m up for it all!

This trip just so happens to be for the girls and not just any girls, but my friend group, the Golden Girls! We decided on a group nickname so that I could chronicle our nights out on the town and our escapes to new experiences on our free time. Much like the real Golden Girls there are four of us and we are incredibly different. But those differences do not divide us, rather, they bring us closer together. I like to think of them as “gap closers”. Because where I and my experiences end, is where my friends and their experiences fill in the gap and begin. Does that make sense?

Anyways… one of the Golden Girls – Charity – decided that she wanted to go to Sight and Sound Theater in Branson, Missouri to see “Esther”. So instead of her going alone, she had the bright idea to make it a girl’s trip and the rest of us jumped on board!

The play was AMAZING and I would recommend that absolutely EVERYONE go and see it! But we didn’t just see the play, we also went shopping, ate some great food, and chatted the nights away!

The Sight and Sound Theater

all about sight and sound theater

My family and I have been coming to Sight and Sound Theater for years and have seen multiple live productions here. The theater itself is HUGE and the plays are professional and first class! Every year they do a different Bible story and bring it to life. The plays last over 2 hours with an intermission in between. And while you wait for the second part to start, you can grab some glazed almonds and a coke!

which show did we go to see?

Esther – Set in the opulent yet perilous Persian Empire, QUEEN ESTHER is a captivating tale of beauty and bravery. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a secret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this?

after the golden girls do sight and sound theater, where do we eat?

The Marketplace Restaurant

The Marketplace Grill

  • This cozy little restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere and a HUGE selection of items on their menu. It was our first stop on our way to Missouri and we were starving by the time we got there! All of us were able to find things that we loved and other things that we wanted to try. Here is what we ate below:
    • Jessie (me)
      • Cajun Jack Burger – Mesquite Grilled Burger Coated In Cajun Seasonings then Topped With Jack Cheese, Sliced Tomato, Shredded Lettuce, Red Onions & Creamy Orlean’s Remoulade.
      • This Burger was SUPER tasty and the remoulade is what drew me in and did not disappoint!
    • Jayla
      • Dinner combo – Hawaiian Chicken, shrimp cakes, and creamed spinach.
A white plate filled with chicken strips and French fries.
  • Charity
    • Dinner combo – Prima Chicken pasta, chicken tenders, and a salad.
  • Kayla
    • Dinner combo – Shrimp Tacos and salad
A plate filled with shrimp tacos and spinach and artichoke dip.

breakfast was a big deal!

Billy Gail’s – Home of the 14′ Pancake

  • This was my first time to eat here, but others in the group used to eat here with their families as kids. It’s famous for this HUGE pancake that is surely impossible for one person to eat and we saw several tables around us order it. It took up the entire table and it was a sight to see! Check out what we ordered below:
    • Jessie (Me) & Kayla
      • Gail’s Famous Omelette – Fluffy eggs cooked with ham, mushrooms, cheese, onions, and green peppers. I also ordered a side of bacon to supplement because I didn’t eat the English muffin or hash browns that it came with. (I was trying to be good on my Keto diet)

  • Jayla
    • Deluxe Hash – Diced red and green peppers, onions, and Yukon gold potatoes, served with two eggs and your choice of meat and bread. (This dish is for those that really want something substantial for breakfast! It was SO DELICIOUS and very filling!)
A plate filled with hash, two fried eggs, and toast.
  • Charity
    • French Toast Combo – Two slices of their Famous French Toast served with hash browns and a choice of meat. (I tasted her French Toast because I adore a good French Toast and it was excellent! The bread was fluffy and tender on the inside and had a nice crisp on the outside.)

sushi for us is always on the agenda!

Momo Sushi and Grill

  • We are all lovers of sushi and so we sought out a place to satisfy that desire! Momo Sushi and Grill is really close to the Boardwalk in Branson which makes it super convenient if you are wanting to do some shopping before or after your meal. The atmosphere was nice and the service was top notch, especially since I had to make some “dietary” adjustments to my sushi order. Even though I had to pay a little extra, I was just thankful that they offered sushi without rice. (I really wish this would become a normal part of the menu or that someone would invite sushi with cauliflower rice.)
    • Jessie
      • Dinner Box Combo – Shrimp Teriyaki with extra grilled veggies, crab Rangoon, and an Alaska roll rolled with cucumber instead of rice. (I was able to take some of the veggies, yum yum sauce, and the cream cheese out of the Crab Rangoon and pile it on top of my sushi roll for a truly unique experience! It was so good!)

  • Charity
    • New York Strip – A Delicious steak cooked to order.
  • Kayla
    • Dinner Box Combo – Chicken Teriyaki and the Shrimp Tempura roll.
  • Jayla

we are all big fans of coffee!

Starbucks

One of the Golden Girls holding her egg bites from Starbucks.
  • I am aware that you know ALL ABOUT STARBUCKS. I mean, who doesn’t? But I do want to talk about what we ordered and how great it was!
    • Jessie
      • Since I’m doing Keto, I went for the Sous Vide Egg Bites. -Applewood-smoked bacon and aged Gruyère Monterey Jack cheeses folded into cage-free eggs and cooked using the French “sous vide” technique to create a velvety texture that’s full of flavor. So tasty! The egg bites were moist, fluffy, creamy, and cheesy all at the same time. And the little bits of crispy bacon were perfect!
      • My drink was the Nitro Cold Brew with heavy cream and two shots of sugar free French Vanilla syrup. (Pro tip – you can google Keto orders online to whatever restaurant you are wanting to eat at and show up prepared to stay on track!)
    • Jayla
      • Bacon, sausage, and egg wrap – Double-smoked bacon, savory pork sausage and cage-free scrambled eggs combined with Cheddar cheese and potatoes–all wrapped in a flour tortilla.
      • Caramel Macchiato – A rich, full-bodied espresso with vanilla-flavored syrup, milk and ice, then top it off with a caramel drizzle for a sweet finish.
    • Charity
      • Ham and Swiss Croissant – Hickory-smoked ham and melted Swiss cheese wrapped in a butter croissant with soft, flaky layers and a golden-brown crust.
      • Pink Drink – A crisp Strawberry Açaí Refreshers® beverage–with accents of passion fruit and combined with creamy coconut milk–evokes a fruity and refreshing sip of spring, no matter what time of year!
  • Kayla
    • She chose the egg white and roasted red pepper Sous Vide Egg Bites – Cage-free egg whites combined with Monterey Jack cheese, spinach and fire-roasted red peppers and cooked using the French “sous vide” technique to create a velvety texture that’s full of flavor. These were tasty too and super light.
    • A Caramel Macchiato is Kayla’s drink of choice – A rich, full-bodied espresso with vanilla-flavored syrup, milk and ice, then top it off with a caramel drizzle for an oh-so-sweet finish.

snacks for the room and the road!

Alani Energy Drinks

  • They have a ton of great flavors and I enjoy one every now and then. The flavor I got on this trip was the Juicy Peach. Y’all… SO SO SO GOOD!

Oh Snap Pickles

  • I don’t know if you’ve ever had these pickles, but you just definitely give them a try! I don’t know how they do it, but their pickles always have this amazing crisp to them and the flavors are perfect. It’s one of the BEST on the go snacks for Keto followers but it’s also great for anyone that enjoys a really good pickle!
