- 1 head of broccoli chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/3 cup of raisins
- 1/2 cup crumbled crispy bacon or real bacon bits
- 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
- salt/pepper to taste
First, chop the head of broccoli into smaller pieces and place the raw broccoli florets into a large bowl.
Second, add the shredded cheese, raisins, bacon, sunflower seeds, mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, and sugar to the bowl with the broccoli and mix well.
Third, taste your broccoli salad to determine how much salt and pepper you need. (I like to taste first because the sunflower seeds and bacon already have salt.)
Then, cover the broccoli salad with plastic wrap and let it sit for a couple of hours in the fridge or preferably overnight to develop the most flavor.
Finally, serve with your favorite dishes!
