Easy Chinese Garlic Fried Green Beans

Jessie Thompson
This side dish is a show stopper! It is crispy, beautiful, and full of flavor. Not only does it taste great, but it's really easy to put together and won't have you spending half your day in the kitchen. With hints of garlic, sugar, onion, and soy the depth of flavor you get with these green beans is second to none. Trust me... this will be one of your favorite new ways to prepare this fantastic vegetable!

Equipment

  • 1 large skillet

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 24 oz. frozen whole green beans (fine green beans)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons avocado oil
  • Salt/black pepper to taste
  • red pepper flakes optional for a spicy kick
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • First, pour avocado oil into a large skillet and place over medium-high heat.
  • Second, add the frozen green beans to the hot oil.
  • Third, cook the green beans in the oil and stir to ensure they are covered in oil.
  • Then, add onion powder and garlic powder to the beans and cook until they become fragrant.
  • Next, add low-sodium soy sauce and brown sugar to the green beans and stir to coat them all.
  • Sauté the green beans until they are slightly colored but not long enough to be soggy. We want to keep that crunchy texture.
  • Taste for seasoning and add salt/pepper. (Just be careful with the salt because the soy sauce already has some in it)
  • Finally, serve immediately, top with sesame seeds for presentation and crunch, and serve alongside your favorite main course.
