Deer Tacos

Ground deer meat, perfectly seasoned with garlic, onion, cumin, chili powder and more, is cooked in a cast iron skillet until all of those delicious flavors have blended into perfection. Then, that delectable meat is layered with refreshing tomatoes, crispy lettuce, tangy sour cream, and melty cheddar cheese on a crispy shell and straight into your mouth! This recipe is easy enough that anyone can make it and will have you forgetting about those pre-packaged taco seasoning packets in an instant!

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs. ground deer meat
  • Taco Shells or flour tortillas
  • Chips to eat on the side with salsa
  • Refried Beans
  • 2 cups water
  • Lettuce
  • Sour Cream
  • Red onion diced finely
  • Tomatoes chopped
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Taco Sauce I like Taco Bell
  • Salsa for your chips and tacos
  • 2 Tablespoons Chili powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon Seasoned Salt
  • Cilantro to taste

Instructions
 

  • First, brown the 2 lbs. of hamburger meat until fully cooked.
  • Second, add the chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, and seasoned salt to the meat and stir really well. Let the seasonings have time to get warm and fragrant.
  • Third, add 2 cups of water to the meat and spices and mix well. Allow the taco meat to simmer on medium heat for about 15 minutes to let all of the flavors come together.
  • Next, warm your taco shells or flour tortillas.
  • Then, assemble your tacos by layering the following ingredients:
  • Place the refried beans onto the shell.
  • Put a spoonful of deer taco meat on top of the refried beans.
  • Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on top of the taco meat.
  • Place chopped tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro, and sour cream on top.
  • Then, pour taco sauce over the top of your assembled taco.
