And when it comes to pies, that can be quite the challenge, especially when people tend to have their favorites and never really want to be adventurous. But this Easy and Delicious Brown Sugar Walnut Pie Recipe breaks those barriers. It's familiar enough (think classic Pecan Pie recipe) to make the Thanksgiving dinner table and the Christmas Day menu but different enough to spark curiosity. Equipment

  • 1 10 inch pie dish
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 food processor or blender

Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 2 packs of graham crackers crushed
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the filling:

  • 1 stick unsalted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 cups raw walnuts chopped

Instructions

For the crust:

  • First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
  • Second, place the graham crackers into a food processor or blender until they are very fine crumbs.
  • Third, pour the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract, into your pie dish.
  • Next, melt the stick of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and add to the dry ingredients in your pie dish.
  • Then, using your fingers incorporate the butter into all of the dry ingredients until it becomes like the texture of sand.
  • Once you have reached a "wet sand" consistency with the dry ingredients, press the crumbs evenly into the bottom and sides of the pie dish.

For the filling:

  • First, place the 2 cups of chopped walnuts into the bottom of the graham cracker crust.
  • Second, in a medium bowl whisk the eggs, flour, brown sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt together.
  • Third, add the melted butter to the pie filling and whisk until fully combined.
  • Next, pour the filling mixture over the top of the chopped walnuts in the graham cracker crust.
  • Then, bake the pie for 35 minutes at 325 degrees until slightly golden brown on top.
  • Finally, serve with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and enjoy!
