Crispy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries Recipe
Recently, I’ve been trying to find ways to incorporate new vegetables into our weekly meals more often. And yes, we have a vegetable with every meal, but it feels like we keep repeating the same ones repeatedly, and I’m tired. This Crispy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries Recipe with a Hot Honey Mayo dipping sauce was born out of that boredom and a desire for more exotic flavors!
Sharing is caring!
Trying this new and spicy take on traditional fries for the first time during the holiday season is an easy way to get a lot of opinions at once! Here’s the thing: They might be the “HIT” at the dinner table, or people might want to make suggestions. That’s a good thing. Then, you can adjust your second batch and adapt it to suit everyone’s tastes! (Or keep them as is because they are so unbelievably good!)
It makes me very sad to say that I’m the only person in my family that likes sweet potatoes. CRAZY RIGHT!?! But I figured that if I could give sweet potatoes another chance with a cool name and an interesting dipping sauce, I might have another chance at converting them.
This sweet potato recipe does that very thing. Plus, it has lots of great flavor and textures. The tender sweet potatoes are sweet, the melting cheese gives them a crispy exterior, and the Hot Honey Mayo is spicy and creamy. It’s like a festival for the taste buds!
Be Sure To Pin It For Later!
You see, my family loves a good sauce. They are “dippers.” My husband has always been like this. Whether it’s French fries or a steak, he will have some ketchup or A1 sauce nearby—no matter what! So, one way to get them to try new things is to coat them with a “special sauce” and make them feel extra fancy and special. This Hot Honey Mayo is my answer to that.
This is another way to get a relatively healthy side dish into the rotation. There are tons of health benefits associated with sweet potatoes. Baked, Crispy sweet potato fries make a great alternative to deep-frying regular potato fries. And you don’t have to label these as “healthy fries.” Just keep that piece of information under wraps! Because if your kids are anything like mine, one mention of the word “healthy” and they immediately turn their noses up.
Surprising Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes!
If you skip the hot honey mayo, adding brown sugar to your spices would be a nice variation. It would be the perfect way to bake some extra sweetness into these delicious fries, reminiscent of a sweet potato casserole (traditionally served at Thanksgiving and Christmas).
Tips for this Crispy Parmesan Sweet Potato Fries Recipe:
- If the hot honey mayo isn’t your “thing,” pair this perfect side dish with your favorite dipping sauce. (Honey mustard would be divine!)
- Cook time will vary depending on how thick you cut these delicious sweet potato fries. I like to have a thickness between a French fry and a potato wedge. (Does that make sense?)
- Don’t want to use the oven? Air-fryer sweet potato fries are the best way to get perfect sweet potatoes every time without heating the entire kitchen. Place the sweet potatoes in an even layer in the air fryer basket for best results, and don’t overcrowd them. That’s the secret to getting crisp foods.
- To make these amazing fries even more macro-friendly, you can use cooking spray instead of avocado oil.
