Halloween Spider Web Brownies for Kids
Halloween treats are some of the most fun things to make! It’s the one time when you can invite creepy crawlers (gummy worms), dark food colorings, and even spooky elements into the kitchen, and nobody is weirded out by it! That’s where these Halloween Spider Web Brownies for Kids come in. They are everything you love about a rich, fudgy brownie, and they are lovingly topped with melted marshmallows to make it look like you accidentally walked into the biggest web of your life! The kids (and adults) are going to love these!
Sharing is caring!

The simplicity of this dessert is what makes it perfect for the Halloween holiday. Most of the time, people are busy running here and there to go to the pumpkin patch, buy costumes, and do trick or treating. There isn’t much time to think about baking snacks for the kiddos. But this easy brownie recipe is an exception. Mix all the ingredients, throw it in the oven, and voila! You have the most decadent sweet. (I also wanted to take this small opportunity to show you that homemade brownies are just as easy as the boxed ones. It’s a mix, dump, and bake situation, but at least you have more control over the ingredients if you make them from scratch.)

Now, look at the “spider web” part of this recipe. It’s so STINKING CUTE! And the marshmallows aren’t just for looks. They add more sweetness and a slight stickiness that compliments the fudgy brownie. (Think of what marshmallows do for s’mores.) That same principle applies here. And since the marshmallows are sticky, you don’t have to worry about it messing up or falling off the brownies.
Another reason that I think this Halloween treat is perfect for the kiddos is because they can be eaten with their hands. Who wants to have plates, forks, and all of those dishes to wash or plastic to throw away? This recipe is customizable. (Which I find to be necessary.) Why does that matter to me so much? Well, it’s because you can master a “base” recipe and always have that in your arsenal, and for different occasions, you can switch up the ingredients and flavors to suit your guests or the season.

Here are some other flavor combinations that would work well in this brownie recipe:
- Candy Corn—Does anything scream Halloween more than Candy Corn? After baking, chop up pieces of candy corn and place them in the batter for a nice, chewy texture.
- White chocolate chips—Some people are white chocolate fans, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Swap all the milk chocolate for white chocolate and call it a day!
- Cream Cheese frosting on top or cream cheese swirled into the batter would be a nice variation.
- Mini marshmallows dotted on top would be cute, and you could even let them get toasted for that s’more-like consistency.
- Reese’s Pieces are the perfect peanut butter crunch, and the signature orange and brown colors are already Halloween-themed.

Here are some other fun Halloween Treats to make:
- Caramel Apples or, for a fun twist, make my Chocolate Salted Caramel Apple Bark. It’s SO GOOD!
- Halloween s’mores with spooky marshmallows
- Halloween Puppy Chow
- A Halloween Snack Board: Take a large cutting board (or a few) and creatively stack your favorite snacks with a fun Halloween-themed twist.
- Pumpkin Pops instead of the traditional cake pops.
- Halloween cupcakes.
- Pretzel sticks dipped in dark chocolate with fun candy eyes.
- Halloween Rice Krispie treats
- Halloween cookies—Take your sugar cookie dough and cut out Halloween shapes like pumpkin faces, monster faces, little monsters, or little goblins. Let the kiddos decorate with royal icing. If you don’t feel that fancy, top the cookies with icing. Use the perfect combination of green, orange, black, and white food coloring.
- Pumpkin Donuts
- Reese’s peanut butter cups are shaped like pumpkins.
- Fresh Fruits – There needs to be something fresh on the table, right?
