The BEST Easy Homemade Guacamole Recipe
I personally feel that guacamole gets a bad rap! People just see this bright green blob in a bowl and immediately turn their noses up. And if you’ve ever tasted a bad one, I totally get it! But that’s not the case with this recipe. My easy guacamole recipe is full of flavor and texture. This is the BEST Easy Homemade Guacamole Recipe and you are about to learn how to make it! (Plus, how to make homemade tortilla chips!)
Sharing is caring!

Let’s talk about texture. In my fresh guacamole recipe there’s crunch from the red onion, spice from the jalapeno, and freshness from the tomato. Not to mention the delicious hint of garlic in the background. It’s not only tasty, but it’s interesting too! (Something that I find missing from most restuarant and store-bought guacamole.)

And then of course, the most important thing is flavor. Most restaurant guacamole lacks flavor to me. They barely even have enough salt and overall it just tastes like mashed avocados. That’s not what the best guacamole recipe is supposed to be like… for my personal preference. (And I LOVE avocados. I’m not trying to mask their flavor. But guac recipes are supposed to be flavorful!) And technically, maybe my version isn’t an authentic guacamole, but it sure tastes good!
Many people think that making a good guacamole at home isn’t possible or easy. Both of those things couldn’t be farther from the truth. Guacamole might be the easiest dip to make at the house. There’s no cooking involved, just chopping and dropping into a bowl, seasoning, and mixing well.

If there was one thing that I would advise homecooks to make sure of, it’s that you use fresh ingredients. The tomatoes need to be fresh so that their texture isn’t sacrificed. Tomatoes that are overripe have a mealy texture and underripe tomatoes have no flavor. Make sure your tomatoes are at their peak.
Hands down the most important ingredient is the ripe avocados. Avocados can be so tricky because one day they aren’t ready and it seems that within two days after that, they are turning brown. But you don’t want to use avocados that are hard because they won’t mash and become creamy. And you don’t want to use avocados that are overripe because the flavor isn’t good and the color won’t be that beautiful vibrant green.
Where do the BEST avocados come from?
The last ingredient that you simply cannot leave out and it needs to be fresh is the cilantro. Fresh cilantro has the power to change guacamole and salsa for the BETTER! Many times people make these two popular Mexican dips and they leave this ingredient out and then wonder why their recipe doesn’t taste like the restaurant version or authentically Mexican. It’s the cilantro!

And last but certainly not least, and it’s not a requirement but makes this appetizer/snack super special, are the homemade tortilla chips. Listen, fresh tortilla chips are ridiculously easy and quick to make and the flavor is second to none.
They are worth what little effort they take to make them. Not to mention, they are super impressive for your party guests. (Assuming that you are making this for some type of gathering.)
