My daughter loves sauces. As a matter of fact, she can’t eat a meal at our table without having a dipping sauce! (HA) This has led to some pretty interesting combinations like deer steak with ranch, hot wing sauce, sweet and sour sauce, and more. I shudder just thinking about those flavors together. (HA) But anyways… on to the point. She LOVES this chicken because the sauce is built in! She doesn’t have to find something out of our fridge to dip her chicken in. This dish has all the flavor she will ever need.

As for this meal being quick and easy, it most certainly is. Seasoning and browning the chicken may be the one thing that takes the longest and that’s 10 minutes tops! I consider this incredibly important when I’m looking for a recipe to use in my home. I am so incredibly busy, as you are too I’m sure, and during the week I want things that can come together quickly.

Right now we are in the heart of basketball season, which means there is a game or multiple practices every night of the week. Some nights we aren’t here at all while other nights are fast, furious, and late. It’s nice to know that I have a dish that my family loves to eat that uses ingredients that I keep on hand.

Be Sure To Pin Cream Garlic Skillet Chicken For Later!

Speaking of using ingredients on hand, this is one of the MAINS REASONS that this dish is a “go-to” for me. It’s okay to prepare in advance for new, challenging, or more strenuous recipes during your week, but the point of this recipe is that you don’t have to plan ahead. Most people who cook will have milk, flour, chicken, and seasonings available in their fridge and pantry. And even if you are missing a few of those things, they are easily substituted. That makes this dish approachable, affordable, and a favorite of mine!

  • Season your chicken on a plastic cutting board or in a clean sink to prevent germs and cross contamination.

FAQ:

What can I serve with Creamy Garlic Skillet Chicken?

  • The great news is that this chicken can be served over rice or pasta! And if mashed potatoes are your thing, I’m sure that would taste great too! Personally, I didn’t serve it on top of anything but I did pair it with a salad and a side. I try to have balanced meals at the house and make sure to have a protein, a vegetable, and a starchy side to keep my family healthy and happy.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts with smoked ham

What other proteins would be good in this dish?

  • I think that fish would work well with this creamy garlic sauce. I know that some people feel weird about mixing dairy and fish but I’ve never had that problem. As a matter of fact, I make a baked fish recipe that has a pretty rich cream sauce on it and I serve it over rice. I’m sure that steak could also be complimented with this flavour packed sauce as well!

Do I have to use a cast iron skillet to make Creamy Garlic Skillet Chicken?

  • Technically, no, you don’t have to use a cast iron skillet. However, there are a few things that I think help make this dish so flavourful. One of those things is having a shallow skillet to cook the chicken. I don’t like to use a pot of a pan with sides that are too high. Also, I want a skillet that isn’t going to stick and is going to give me that beautiful brown colour. So, if you have a pan or skillet that fits the bill, then use it. No worries. But personally, I LOVE cast iron.
