You should be excited about it. It should be a treat. I’m a true sucker for LOVE, can you tell?! And in honor of this LOVELY month of celebrating one of the most beautiful things on earth,  I want to show you how to make The Best No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie to make you feel all of those “lovey” emotions.

This recipe is a chocolate lover’s dream! Peanut butter is mixed with cream cheese to create this cheesecake-like pie filling and layered between a crushed Oreo cookie crust and a creamy chocolate pudding. A sprinkling of Reese’s cups and Oreos on top sends this dessert straight over the edge!

As far back as I can remember chocolate has always made an appearance in my life for Valentine’s Day. Chocolate desserts like chocolate-dipped strawberries, boxes of assorted chocolates, chocolate cake, etc… are in no short supply around this special holiday and I was always gifted some version of any one of those! Nowadays, it’s The Best No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie that graces my table and my plate, and you’ll hear no complaining from me!

There is just something about chocolate that people associate with a “good” feeling.

And it’s no surprise that Scientists and Chocolate companies have made this connection. (And all the chocolate lovers rejoice!) Because when you look at what chocolate does to our brains and mood, not to mention the amazing taste in our mouths, it seems to be a win-win all the way around. (In moderation of course.) I want to discuss a few of those things here and you might be surprised what you will learn!

  • First of all, chocolate produces phenylethylamine or P.E.A.
    • This is a chemical in your brain that is released when you are in love. Specifically, it triggers the release of endorphins and increases both dopamine and serotonin. This can be taken as a supplement and helps tremendously with depression.
  • Secondly, chocolate has theobromine.

This is very similar to caffeine.

  • Theobromine can help you not feel as tired and will give you a bout of energy that is released more slowly than caffeine, but lasts way longer. Chocolate also has caffeine, so you are getting the best of both worlds.
  • Thirdly, chocolate has magnesium. That helps with anxiety and cramping. That monthly craving for chocolate ladies isn’t a coincidence. It’s the body reaching out for a vitamin that it desperately needs.
  • Finally, chocolate has antioxidants that improve mood.

But this delicious dessert recipe isn’t just filled with creamy chocolate pudding. It’s also got peanut butter. Peanut butter is such a staple in American culture. Seriously. I don’t know many kids who have never had a PB&J sandwich stuffed into their lunch box or a package of peanut butter crackers for an after-school snack. In my house, people just grab a large tablespoon, get a big dip of peanut butter, and lick on it like it’s a lollipop! (HA)

Peanut butter is, in short, AMAZING! In this recipe, it ups the richness and creaminess by 1,000%! And there’s something about peanut butter and chocolate together. The Reese’s company figured this out a long time ago and the whole world has been addicted ever since. (I’m pretty sure that’s what’s going to happen to you once you taste this pie. You will become addicted. This will become your go-to Valentine’s Day no-bake dessert for that special “someone” in your life and you will never look back.)

Be Sure To Pin It For Later!

And I know that I mentioned a special “someone” in your life, but the truth is that I have many SPECIAL SOMEONES in my life! (Not like that… don’t get worried)

Alongside my husband, I have three wonderful children and they most certainly have my heart! They also REALLY love dessert.

(Is there a kid that doesn’t?)

And I like to make sweets for them AND with them.

This is an easy dessert recipe that requires no cooking and would be easy for your kiddos to take over and make. (Giving them things to do solo is HUGE for their confidence.) And since this pie is a family favorite in my house, they are even more motivated to make it and eat it. (Kids LOVE to make their favorite foods as opposed to something they don’t like.) The only issue I have is that I have to make sure they don’t eat the entire pie in one sitting and get sick! (And yes, one of my children has done that very thing with donuts and a bag of Reese’s.)

This pie isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a rich chocolate pie. And I’m not just saying that. It’s SUPER RICH! But in a good way. I’m just giving you a fair warning that you might want to cut it into small slices, because finishing a large slice after a meal might be impossible. (But you could just eat that large slice as your meal. I’m not here to judge.) (HA)

A different angle of the The Best No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.

The crumbles of Reese’s cups and that Oreo crust gives this pie a great texture. You see, the filling itself is light and airy. But when you bite into a hidden pocket of Reese’s deliciousness, another level of creaminess and a pop of peanut butter are once again at the forefront. Add the delectable crunch of that chocolate cookie crust on the bottom and you’ve got a dessert that just sings in your mouth! And because we know that chocolate will have you on cloud 9, your head and heart will be singing as well!

Variations to The Best No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie: (Toppings)

  • Instead of Cool Whip on top, you could use homemade whipped cream. (which I love) Another good option would be Reddi Whip if you are in a hurry.
  • A generous sprinkling of chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, or chocolate curls on top of the pie with the Oreo cookies would be beautiful and elevate the presentation of this pie.
    • If you are wondering how to make chocolate curls, just take a chocolate bar, use a vegetable peeler, and drag it along the sides slowly. The result will be beautiful ribbons of chocolate that are perfect for decorating your desserts.

Storage for The Best No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie:

  • This pie can be kept in the fridge covered with plastic wrap for 1 week.
