As you know my dad and I started meal prepping in January. On our weekly meal plans, I usually do at least 2 breakfast options, 2 lunch options, and 3 dinner options. I also do snacks and I make sure there is one dessert lined up for the week. We have tried so many new foods and combinations and almost everything has been spectacular. But my dad has certainly found a favorite. This Oreo fluff is it! It’s his current obsession. (HA)

If you want to know why my dad loves it so much, it’s because it doesn’t taste like a healthy dessert. For example, zero-sugar whipped topping is a wonderful swap for regular whipped topping. The great thing about it is that you can’t taste the difference and you are saved the extra sugar and calories. I love swaps like this! They make eating healthier so much easier and a no-brainer for sure! And it’s just another reason why this perfect healthy dessert keeps making its way onto our weekly menu.

It’s also incredibly important that we find ways to keep all of our meals and snacks packed full of protein. This dessert is a great way to sneak in some protein powder in a way that you can’t even taste. Although it’s not tons of protein, if you find places to pack extra protein in all your meals throughout the week, you’ll be surprised at how big of a difference it makes by the end.

Be Sure To Pin It For Later!

The truth is that I don’t have the biggest sweet tooth. I’m the person who would rather have two entrees than ever order dessert. But I also realize that the moment that you are trying to eat better, cravings seem to hit. You may never want dessert and all of a sudden you need a chocolate fix. (It’s so odd how that happens. And certainly shows that there are some mental aspects to eating better.)

So we must make room for something sweet during the week that we have already planned for and have control over. (Because dessert is where we can get into trouble. Traditional desserts are high in sugar and low in protein.) The entire batch of this creamy fluff is astonishingly low in calories and high in protein compared to other traditional sweets.

Variations for The Best Low-Calorie Chocolate Protein Oreo Fluff:

  • You can substitute the Jello chocolate pudding cup for Greek yogurt and get even more protein.
  • You can change the flavor combinations of this protein fluff recipe.
    • Vanilla Protein Fluff – Substitute vanilla pudding cups, vanilla protein powder, vanilla instant pudding mix, and vanilla cookies.
    • Strawberry Protein Fluff – Substitute vanilla pudding cups, strawberry protein powder, strawberry instant pudding mix, and strawberry wafers. (That would be a nice texture change.)
    • Peanut Butter Protein Fluff – Substitute vanilla pudding cups, peanut butter powder, vanilla instant pudding mix, and Nutter Butters.
    • Banana Pudding Protein Fluff – Substitute vanilla pudding cups, vanilla protein powder, banana instant pudding mix, and sliced banana and vanilla wafers.

You can always add your favorite fruit and favorite toppings to the fluff to make it feel a little bit fresher and lighter.

  • Mixed berries, strawberries, pineapple, banana, blueberries, and even mango can be worked into this fluffy protein pudding. (Another secret is to use frozen fruit. Frozen fruit requires quite a bit more chewing so it’s the best hack for working fruit into your meal plan but not using a ton of it.)
  • To keep this a low-calorie snack/dessert, I would make sure to use zero-sugar pudding mixes in the different flavor combinations above.
  • If you aren’t concerned about the calories/sugar in the whipped topping, you can opt for the fluffy texture of the extra creamy whipped topping. It’s going to add another level of decadence.
